Sport är inte bara sport
En amerikansk sociolog, Harry Edwards, har sedan 60-talet kämpat
för ett bättre samhälle i USA och för de svartas rättigheter då i synn-
erhet. Här följer vad han säger med journalisten Dave Zirin i boken

The black athlete is really just a canary in the mine shaft. The real
issue is who needs the black athlete who nedds African-American
people?If you follow the Black athletes, and you see where we´re
headed as a nation.
And sport is not about fun and games, this is not the toy department
of human affairs. Sport its about the most sacred, deeply roted,most
important values, sentiments and structures in society, and if you can
get to sports and you can get to the athletes,you way up the road in
terms of changing definitions of reality in the society as a whole.We
are all in this together.
Dave Zirin är en undersökande sportjournalist och intressant då
han visar att det kokar under ytan även i de mest genomkommer-
sialiserade sporterna som de i USA.
