En folkets nationalsång
Som tonåring läste jag Vredens druvor av John Steinbeck
och blodet kokade av revolutionär vilja. Hur kunde en såd-
an samhällsutveckling vara tillåten? Huvudpersonen Tom
Joad strider för sin familj ibland stillsamt ibland mer våld-
samt.
Woody Guthrie gjorde inspirerad av romanen The ballad of
Tom Joad. 1995 gjorde Springsteen The ghost of Tom Joad
vilken är inspirerad av både Steinbeck och Guthrie. Nu på
High Hopes gör Springsteen en ny version av låten med Steve
Morello på gitarr. Morellos solo är bland det grymmast jag hört.
Jag går fortfarande i psykotiskt rus när jag hör den för 100 gång-
en denna dag. Vilket jävla drag!
